For the second-consecutive season, we have been forced to make some tough decisions in the current pandemic situation that we find ourselves in. As a result, we have decided that Farmington-only youngsters will be able to participate in our basketball program this season. SIGN UPS THIS SEASON ARE FOR FARMINGTON RESIDENTS ONLY. If you don't live in Farmington, please don't sign up as you will not be allowed to participate. This decision was made with the best interest of the Farmington children in mind. With the uncertainty of the situation and the fact that we do not own the gym that we play in and have to follow the schools rules, we felt this was the best decision to ensure that the youth of Farmington will have basketball this season. If we allowed out-of-towners to play, it opens us up to a situation where we could potentially be forced to remove those children from the league, thus completely messing up our rosters and divisions. It was simply a risk that we weren’t willing to take. We appreciate your understanding that this was a difficult call to make. When taking over the basketball program four years ago, managing through a pandemic was never a thought that entered our mind.

Having said that, we will follow the schools rules in regards to COVID-19 protocols. If the school requires masks for spectators, players and/or coaches, then so will we. Everyone needs to be fluid and patient as we navigate this together. Everyone was cooperative last season, so I don’t foresee any issues here.

We are hopeful to hold Skills Sessions this season at select points of the year for Major League and potentially Minor League groups. These won’t be for each group each week and the schedule won’t be set until registrations have closed and we know the full number of participants.

The Minor League (7-9 years old) and Major League (10-12 years old) divisions will get underway with Skills Sessions on Dec. 4 & Dec. 11, followed by six weeks of action. The Rookie League (5-6 years old) will not begin until January and will feature five weeks of action (Jan. 8, 15, 22, 29 & Feb. 5). The Rookie League will feature more of an emphasis on skills and less on game play.

The Farmington 500 is happy to introduce our new Little Dribblers basketball program. This program is designed for 4 and 5 year olds interested in starting their basketball careers and will focus on working together as a team, having fun and learning some basic basketball skills. This program will be less intensive than our Rookie League program that is somewhat more advanced with real games and is available for 5-6 year olds.

The Little Dribblers is a 45 minute co-ed session that will take place on Saturdays at 8:30 am at the Farmington 500 Field House on Paulson Road for five-straight weeks, beginning on January 8th. Where we own the facility where these sessions will take place, out of town residents are welcome to join as well. The program is limited to 20 participates with a waitlist. If we have enough interest, we will consider adding a second group. The cost is $25 for five weeks.

Please contact Little Dribblers Director Amy Mann ([email protected]) with questions.
